The
head of the Chaldean Catholic Church, an Eastern Catholic church in
full communion with the Holy See, has forbidden the sale of Church
properties without permission from “the high ecclesiastical
authorities,” the Fides news agency reported.
Fides linked Patriarch Louis Raphaël I Sako’s decision to Pope Benedict XVI’s 2012 post-synodal apostolic exhortation Ecclesia in Medio Oriente,
which stated that “the alienation of Church goods should adhere
strictly to the relevant canonical norms and current papal legislation”
(no. 44).
