The arrival of Christianity in Munster will be recalled this week in Co Waterford when the seaside village of Ardmore will hold a pageant re-enacting the visit by an early Irish saint.St Declan or Declan Mac Eirrc is remembered for having converted east Munster to Christianity in the late fifth century.
He is reputed to have established a monastery in Ardmore on the instructions of St Patrick.
St Declan will be remembered on his feast day tomorrow with a pageant on the beach as part of the Pattern Festival, which runs until July 29th.
