Major Clerical Errors - The Irish Catholic Newspaper
You may remember the story we ran here for over 4 days and contained the insight of a rather disturbing and unwelcome development of the unchecked erratic behaviour of a cleric based thus far in Mayo.
His actions have involved a veritable amount and mixture of different ranks of clergy such as priests, Monisgnor, bishops and archbishop...and he feels he has walked away unscathed...thus far let it be noted.
The local Catholic newspaper carried the unchecked information given them and it now looks as if this story could now take a different route altogether...towards the courts by all accounts!!!
Pinup Bishops' Secretary
Renegade Bishop Pat Buckley (pic'd here) has updated his website and it is as colourful as the man himself, but one should not need to remind him of the laws of slander....Cardinal Emeritus Daly certainly would not hesitate in so doing in relation to the heavily photoshopped picture of him!!!
However, on the bishops' website, there is a section termed 'Meet the Team' which contains pics and short biographies of the staff that assist his Grace...but one pic in particular is certainly questionable....that of Fr Adrian Taylor whom it is stated, is the bishops' secretary.
Looking closely at the picture, even if one is blind, will certainly remind those avid (300 thousand plus of you) readers of this blogspot that the picture provided is taken from a posed clerical calendar which was blogged about here before...one has to wonder if the bishop is doing the cardboard cut out ploy engaged by An Garda Síochána at present...
Cutting costs in these times perhaps is biting into the flamboyant bishops' expenses which are now perhaps more than ever curtailed considering his fallout with his previous benefactors...all the above can be accessed by clicking on the following...Bishop Pat Buckley
Killaloe Diocesan Website - Ahead Of Its Time (??)
Wandering through the websites of the dioceses of Ireland (there was no paint drying at the time) that of Bishop Wishy Washy Walsh certainly caught our attention.
Normally, this site is so drab, under capitalised and certainly unwelcoming that it would not exactly set your rosary on fire, but when we scrolled down to the end of the first page (Diocese of Killaloe) where we noticed that it was last updated on...20th July 2008!!!
Considering that we here have often commented on how slow the webmaster is to update the site, and that today is only the 7th day of July 2008, we can only be left to wonder how this could possibly be the case...someone was looking at the wrong calendar when this was being done!!
Perhaps by the 20th July however, the Diocesan Appointment(s) for 2008 should be there and if not we will be more than happy to inform the local clergy down there in that regard...and can do so before the 20th July if necessary...
Irish Diocesan Websites
The vast majority of Irish Diocesan Websites (IDW) are put together by Catholic Ireland, and this is noticeable whereby they carry the latest news feed from Catholic Ireland own site which is very informative but sometimes a little behind in getting the stories out there (not a prob with CW)...
The following are our own views in relation to each of the IDW's in alphabetical order...click on name of diocese to access the site itself...
Archdiocese of Armagh - recently updated and overhauled in a very major way but it is more pleasant to visit and certainly more informative but can take a while to fully upload...
Archdiocese of Cashel & Emly - if ever a site needed regular updating and less of an ego trip for the current AB this is certainly the one...
Archdiocese of Dublin - overhauled earlier this year, it certainly is informative but the colours used need to be enhanced as the reading of grey upon white is not so easy on the eye...
Archdiocese of Tuam - initially not so bad but the link should really bring you into the main site and then link from there elsewhere and fails to give enough info...
Diocese of Achonry - last updated 22nd May 2008 but is certainly an improvement of the site previous to it yet needs regular updating...
Diocese of Ardagh & Clonmacnoise - a site most unappealing to the eye and like the bishop currently in situ, needs updating and overhaul...
Diocese of Clogher - another recently updated website and far easier to navigate than previous site offered and certainly more colourful...
Diocese of Clonfert - a site long overdue a facelift and certainly it looks shabby and abandoned and last updated over 2 years ago!!!
Diocese of Cloyne - despite being burdened with Bishop Magee, this site is almost an ego trip for him and certainly needs upgrading especially where scanning in pictures is concerned...as grainy as His Lordship himself...
Diocese of Cork & Ross - another upgraded site and well done to the webmaster here and easy to navigate...
Diocese of Derry - also recently overhauled and well presented making it easy to navigate as well..
Diocese of Down & Connor - the site on life support but time to switch it off!!! Needs some resuscitation and urgently so...new bishop new site we can but hope...
Diocese of Dromore - certainly needs updating started well but very quickly stopped...
Diocese of Elphin - whilst in need of change, the first page is certainly not inviting to say the least...
Diocese of Ferns - changing diocese, changing website and nice to see it being so well maintained and updated...
Diocese of Galway, Kilmacduagh & Kilfenora - upgrade on an upgrade but well done on this site which is user-friendly and regularly updated...
Diocese of Kerry - certainly updated and refreshing but needs more colour...
Diocese of Kildare & Leighlin - easy navigate, constantly updated and fresh in colour...
Diocese of Killala - an awkward site to navigate and certainly needs more definitive structure and the moving WYD08 logo needs to be removed as it can interfere with click to access and needs easier navigation buttons..
Diocese of Killaloe as stated earlier, needs major overhaul and upgrading long overdue to say the least, and perhaps the least said the better but more needs to be done to dispense the Gospel...
Diocese of Kilmore - also refreshingly updated which was long required but perhaps they may actually place the bishop's coat of arms on site like before, it would be nice to see alongside the description...
Diocese of Limerick - updated in recent times, very informative and certainly could be used as a template for other dioceses...well maintained...
Diocese of Meath - very cluttered site needs a little clearing or additional pages to cope with it and perhaps better links would help and at present a testament to an ecclesiastical ego...
Diocese of Ossory - long in need of updating, it has received the necessary attention with the appointment of new bishop whom it is hoped will ensure it remains as a tool by which to communicate the Word of God, but nonetheless a great new beginning...
Diocese of Raphoe - again, overcrowded site but at least the links list is no longer flashing as previous, but colour and content need attention...
Diocese of Waterford & Lismore - not exactly the most exciting, informative and welcoming of sites and needs to be re-examined in that context for urgent attention...
Over the coming days, we will comment on other religious websites in Ireland, so watch and be prepared...we shall not spare our comments...
