An Italian judge has been given a suspended 1-year jail term ad barred from serving as a judge during that period, for refusing to enter any courtroom in which a crucifix is displayed.
Judge Luigi Tosti was sentenced by a court in L'Aquila after being convicted for a third time for refusing to perform his official duties.
Crucifixes are not mandatory but customary in Italy's public buildings.
