Pope Benedict hikes along predecessor's favorite Alpine path

Pope Benedict XVI took a 1-hour hike in the Dolomite Mountains on July 19, walking along a trail named in honor of his predecessor, the KAI news agency reports.

The John Paul II hiking trail stretches across a scenic span of the Italian Alps near Lorenzago di Cadore, where Pope Benedict is taking his summer vacation.

The Polish Pope spent his vacation in the same remote town on five different occasions, and local residents recalled his visits by naming a path in his honor along one of the late Pontiff's favorite hiking routes.
