Cardinal Ivan Dias warned his African audience that secularism has had a devastating impact on religious attitudes in Europe and North America. He voiced the hope that “the tree of faith in Nigeria will stand strong.”
Speaking to an estimated 10,000 people at the inauguration of an auditorium in Ontisha, built on the site where Pope John Paul II celebrated Mass 25 years ago, Cardinal Dias encouraged the faithful to bear witness to the Gospel, offering models of behavior so that others “see your good works and praise God in heaven.”
