Gardaí Off Hook Again!!!

The Minister for Justice has said he does not believe there should be any disciplinary action taken against gardaí who failed to take action on information about Irish involvement in an international child porn ring.

The information was provided by Austrian authorities last August.

Michael McDowell (pic'd here) said it was a case of human error that it was not acted upon straight away and said gardaí were reviewing their procedures in processing such information in the future.

However, Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has said any exchanges of information between different police authorities should be dealt with quickly and efficiently.
