A priest’s home in west Belfast has been broken into and his passport, laptop and cash stolen, as the local MLA condemned the incident as “despicable”.
St Luke’s Parish in Twinbrook was targeted on Thursday night, with many valuables stolen including the priest’s passport and a large sum of money.
Police said they believe two suspects were involved - a man and a woman.
In a ‘community appeal’ posted on Facebook, Sinn Féin MLA Danny Baker said: “The home of a local priest in Twinbrook was broken into last night.
“Keys to local chapels were taken along with passport, laptop and cash (US dollars).
“If local post offices or businesses are offered US dollars, please let the PSNI know.
“If anyone has any information, please come forward.
“This is a despicable act, and those behind it must be held to account.”
A spokesperson for the PSNI said: “Police are appealing for information and witnesses following a report of a burglary in Twinbrook, west Belfast.
