Accord, the Catholic Marriage Care Service, is inviting all engaged couples to join in their annual Saint Valentine’s Day Mass on Wednesday, 12 February at 3pm, at the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Shrine of Saint Valentine in Dublin.
The event offers couples a unique opportunity to celebrate their engagement and seek blessings for their upcoming marriages.
Bishop Denis Nulty (pictured above), Bishop of Kildare & Leighlin and President of Accord will offer the blessing during the event.
Speaking about the blessing Bishop Nulty emphasised the importance of this ceremony in his invitation to couples, saying, “Marriage and family are the cornerstone of society, and this blessing is a beautiful way for couples to begin their journey toward a sacramental union. We invite all engaged couples to join us in this sacred moment, and we look forward to celebrating with you on Saint Valentine’s Day.”
The blessing ceremony is a time not only for couples to receive the Church’s blessing but also for the wider community to reflect on the vital role marriage and family play in society.
Accord’s dedication to supporting couples as they prepare for marriage is an essential part of its mission, helping to build strong foundations for relationships that will last a lifetime.
Prior to the Mass, a special blessing of rings will take place at 2pm. Couples interested in participating in this meaningful ceremony are encouraged to contact Accord for more information.
To register, please email marriagepreparation@accord.ie.
The event is open to all engaged couples, and promises to be a beautiful and spiritually enriching experience for all who attend.
A prayer to Saint Valentine
Saint Valentine,
touch the hearts
of our young people;
intercede for their needs;
hear my prayer.
Amen.
