This year, the Christmas tree in St Peter's Square will come from the northern Italian province of Trento.
As the Vatican government announced on Tuesday, the 29 metre high Norway spruce comes from the 5,000-strong community of Ledro near Lake Garda.
The decorated tree will be ceremonially illuminated on the afternoon of 7 December.
On this day, the nativity scene in the centre of St. Peter's Square will also be on display to pilgrims and tourists for the first time.
This year, it is being created by volunteers from the island of Grado in the far north-east of Italy and is based on motifs from the local lagoon and the lives of fishermen.
The tree and cot will be on display until the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, which will be celebrated on 12 January 2025.
