The Archdiocese of Salvador, through the Pastoral of Tourism (Pastur),
has launched the project "Verano con Fe" (Summer with Faith), which
involves the realization of different activities in the various churches
of the Old Town in the months of January and February 2017.
According
to father Manoel Filho, coordinator of Pastur, the project brings
together new initiatives which are already present in churches.
"We want to promote new activities during the summer. The goal is to
allow the community to understand, especially in the old town center,
that summer is the time when there are more tourists and that tourists
can have the opportunity of carrying out more activities linked to
faith", reads a note of the Archdiocese sent to Fides.
The programming
of the activities revolve around the major festivities of these two
months.
The Ministry of Labor recalled that the project of the Archdiocese will
be a great help in the fight against child labor.
"The Church knows how
to make society and the people who attend the church aware of the evils
of child labor".
