Pope Francis said at
his weekly general audience on Wednesday that it was an
injustice that many children are illiterate in this day and age.
"It's impossible to understand how, in a world in which
technical and scientific progress have reached so high, there
are still illiterate children," he said.
"Many children suffer
from the lack of education. It is a great injustice that
undermines the dignity of the person. Without education one
easily becomes prey to exploitation and various forms of social
disadvantage".
