The work of the artist behind Southwark Cathedral's Diamond Jubilee
window will feature in this year's Icelandic Christmas stamps.
Leifur Breidfjord created the window that was installed in June last
year as part of celebrations around the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
Breidfjord is based in Reykjavík but is a Fellow of the British Society of Master Glass Painters.
The motif of the Christmas stamps is a stained-glass window above the door of the iconic Hallgrímskirkja church in Reykjavík.
The window depicts Christ's Passion and Christian themes like the battle between good and evil, and resurrection.
The Dean of Southwark, the Very Reverend Andrew Nunn comments: "We
very much enjoy Leifur Breidfjord's outstanding work in the Jubilee
Window of Southwark Cathedral. I am therefore delighted that, as we continue to celebrate the
Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen, his marvellously evocative
work has been chosen for these stamps. They will be posted off around
the world and express something of the joy of God that we celebrate at
Christmas."
