Down and Connor Diocesan Appointments
Having considered the pastoral needs of the people of the Diocese, Bishop Noel Treanor has made the following appointments:
Very Rev John Murray PP St Luke’s to be PP St Michael the Archangel;
Rev Brian McCann CC St Paul’s to be PP St Luke’s;
Rev Michael McConville to be Assistant Priest St Patrick’s (pro-tem);
Rev
Thariathkutty Perumayan Varrid (known as Fr Anthony), a priest of the
Archdiocese of Ernakulam-Angamaly, (Kerala, India), to be CC St Paul’s
and to provide pastoral care for the faithful of the Syro-Malabar rite;
Rev Clement Marshall, a native of Belfast, retired priest of the Diocese of Portsmouth, to be Assistant Priest, Larne (pro-tem).
Fr
Peter Carlin resigned as Parish Priest of St Michael the Archangel in
order to join the Columban South American Priest Associate programme for
a period of three years. We wish Fr Peter every blessing as he
undertakes this missionary experience with the Columban Fathers in Latin
America.
I
take this opportunity to thank Fr Declan Thomson SPS for his ministry
during the past year in the parishes of Bangor and St Michael the
Archangel.
I
extend a warm welcome to Fr Anthony and to Fr Clement Marshall as they
begin ministry in the diocese. Fr Anthony has been seconded to our
diocese for an initial period of three years and Fr Clement will supply
until Easter.
Together
with Bishops Farquhar and McKeown, I should like to record my thanks
once again to all our priest colleagues affected by these appointments.
We thank them for their cooperation.
We wish them God’s blessing, good
health and fulfillment in their new appointments.
