The newly appointed Archbishop Fausto Travez of Quito, Ecuador sent a special message to priests this week encouraging them to be faithful to their vocation and to “form one body and one spirit” in order to better serve the Church. Archbishop Travez was appointed on September 11.
In his message to priests, religious and laity, he called for prayers that he “may be enlightened by the Holy Spirit in this new pastoral task.”
“No priest can persevere or do good work if he does not feel supported by his brother priests, and therefore priests are the ones who must mutually encourage each other and form one body and one spirit as Jesus instructed them,” the archbishop said.
The archbishop added that he hopes to do devote himself particularly to the formation of priests, religious and catechists.SIC: CNA/INT'L
