My dear friends, it seems that the work we are undertaking is not going down so well with some which is regrettable but we must remember we are not here to serve the few or the many.Since its inception some few short weeks ago, we have been inundated with emails from so many but we are getting through them and will be in touch with the last remaining few which have arrived previous to the publishing of the Ryan Report into Child Abuse earlier this week.
We have also designated one of our contact persons as the info officer who will give out the contact details for support services for victims and their families of Institutional Abuse, so please do feel free to get in touch with us.
Many have written - anonymously - to express their disgust and chagrin with CW / CWI for having named CENSORED as being the CENSORED who has been having an CENSORED for many years with a local woman - native to CENSORED.
We have been accused of hiding behind anonymity but in fact we have not been hiding anything at all but perhaps it is because of our total disclosure that many feel uncomfortable with the information that we have and indeed others have, namely some journalists - but at least we print and have sources for all that we post.
At no stage do we intend to step back from any of our current ongoing investigations despite the veiled threats being issued by the few, as this is a service to all and not the browbeaters...ad multos annos....
Indeed, after the publishing of the Ryan Report, we received some rather distressing emails from many people, some of which were published at the request of those who submitted but many others were not.Amongst them which were not published but which we were given permission to publish minor parts were as follows:
* an allegation of abuse against a then-priest, now-Bishop in the midlands of Ireland who perpetrated abuse upon young male children over a period of years but which was never investigated;
* a then-seminarian, now-priest, who was inappropriately sexually advanced upon by a parish priest almost 9 years ago in a parish of the Archdiocese of Cashel and Emly;
* a Bishop in the northern province who has been known to procure the sexual favours of at least 2 'female companionship' agencies and is known as the 'bonking bishop';
* a southern province Bishop who is partial to young men and is known to have, as a priest, also turned a deaf ear to the allegations of many youngsters in the institution which was located in his parish at the time, and the list goes on.
However, for the moment, to preserve the sensitivites of those who do not appreciate the truth, we will spare the blushes of those 'libelled' above until next week and then we will name all involved...and lets see if there are other journalists willing to follow in the lead.
The Gardaí were inactive, the bishops intolerant and everyone else just decided to show a deaf ear to such abuse all those years ago....now the media have a choice of being thrown in with them or else do the job they are supposed to be doing.
If only perhaps they were as eager to print in those days what they knew to be happening as outlined this week, taking up most front pages and headlining most TV stations news reports the world over, maybe just maybe, things would have been different.
Lets hope they will now be more alert than ever before and less in kow-towing to the Purple Parliament that ran this country with their iron croziers!!!
