The European Parliament is promoting abortion and giving same-sex couples more rights in a resolution it passed Wednesday.
The resolution, tabled by Italian Communist member of the European Parliament Giusto Catania, calls for all governments to ensure women have the “right to reproductive and sexual health.”
According to the Daily Mail, “Opponents claim the wording is a euphemism which is often used to include abortion on demand.”
The resolution also calls for member states that allow same-sex unions to recognize similar unions made in other EU nations. This resolution will anger the Vatican. Not only is the legislation pro-abortion and pro-homosexual, but it also calls for better access to contraception. The Catholic Church does not believe in birth control. Monsignor Ignacio Barreiro, head of the Rome office of the Catholic group Human Life International, said, “We see this resolution with the utmost concern and it is a clear indication of how the European Parliament is moving away from the Christian roots of Europe and also its roots in the natural law.”
The Catholic Church has been gravely concerned with Europe’s drift away from its Christian roots. And it is starting to do something about it.
In Italy, the Vatican deposed Prime Minister Romano Prodi because of his liberal views.
In France, the pope spoke about how he wishes to abolish the state’s secularism.
In Spain, the Vatican opposes the current government because of its liberal and pro-abortion policies. Catholic leaders have repeatedly called for Europe to return to its “Christian roots.” Yet few remember the bloody soil these roots grew in.
These so-called Christian roots involved torturing, murdering and bludgeoning into submission all those who disagreed with Rome. Europe returning to its roots may seem good at first, as the Catholic Church clamps down on same-sex unions and abortion.
But then it will start going further.
It will enforce Sunday worship.
The Protestant churches will be gathered back into the fold.
Catholicism will become the state religion.
All those who rebel will be punished harshly. So watch for these types of liberal laws to solicit a response from the Vatican.
It is already fighting similar laws in individual countries.
