The posting here yesterday of an article in relation to Bishop Buckley was so done in an attempt to get to the truth which has evaded all involved since it began.Let me make it crystal clear here that I personally have no issue with Bishop Buckley and firmly believe in the motto of live and let live...it is a pity that the following submission received in relation to this story which goes to prove how conniving and deviously dishonest the RC hierarchy is when attempting to silence their critics...and the fact that when all else fails they then attempt to bribe them....this I received made my spine tingle with fear....
I am a priest of an Ulster diocese and have never met Pat Buckley and don't ever wish to even though my own bishop told us at a conference of priests that his episcopal orders are valid.
I was studying in Rome at the time Bishop Buckley was sacked from his parish by the then Bishop Cathal Daly.
The story of the credit cards and male prostitutes was actually contrived at a secret meeting in the prof's ref in Maynooth in 1999 in order to attempt to blackmail or destroy Bishop Buckley's good name.
Present at that meeting was Daly himself, Jim Cantwell and Father Martin Clarke of the Catholic Press Office, Bishop Willie Walsh of Kllaloe (sic) and Bishop John Magee of Cloyne.
A young man from Daly's former diocese Ardagh, a Catholic primary school teacher, had approached Buckley and told him that he had a three year homosexual liason (sic) with Daly and that Daly had a live in lover James (who still lives with him in Belfast).
Buckley had tackled Daly and Daly and the Church went into damage conrol (sic) mode so that if Buckley made the thing public he would have no credabilty (sic).
The plot thickens !!!
Let us now look closely at the names mentioned in this submission:
Cardinal Emeritus Daly - under his watch, the Child Sex Abuse allegations in Ireland came into the public domain and he decided to stick his head into the sand and avoid dealing with the issue...also was instrumental in offering Bishop Buckley the bribe of £250,000 to leave Ireland for a period of time and remain silent on issues pertinent to the RC Church including Child Sex Abuse...
Bishop Willie Walsh - this man is the travellers friend no doubt which raised the irk of many clergy and laity alike...involved himself unnecessarily in a particular case of a Garda Chief Superintendent which resulted in said officer being falsely accused and dismissed from his position...also in relation to Child Sex Abuse allegations, Bishop Walsh punished the victim instead of the perpetrator who happened to be a priest...also has made life very difficult for a young cleric down there by spreading untruths and malicious gossip and also allowing his clergy to do likewise unchecked...
Bishop John Magee - the ultimate sleazeball and dictator of the Irish Purple Parliament who was originally in Rome as Secretary to a few Popes one of whom was the late Pope John Paul I...and we all know how he was murdered...and Magee knows all too much and well as he has dared use it to cover himself in certain legal situations...seemingly he has a sauna which has been known for the courting of innocent young men and when this was complained of many years ago to the Gardaí, Magee let it be known if anything was done to him, then he would let it be known what happened in the Vatican in 1978 in relation to Pope John Paul I and there the matter has rested ever since....
...as a dictator well let us just say Cobh Cathedral and the accompanying divisions this mans arrogance and contempt for the wishes of the people in his microcosm of a diocese which thus far has failed to contain his ego et al....
The above are just some of those that colluded to bring Bishop Buckley down as he was saying the wrong thing (read the right thing for us right-minded people) which is not pleasant for them (you would nearly feel sorry for them would you not...)
Well, it seems Bishop Walsh learned the black art of deceit, arrogance, framing of the innocent, malice with intent etc at the very capable hands of Daly and Magee and indeed no doubt has a golden star in his copybook now...
...indeed the plot thickens...but as it does, I would like to extend to ALL parties concerned the opportunity to shed further light on this matter by submitting their view on this matter and sincerely look forward to hearing from them...
