High Court to consider Murphy Report chapter

The High Court will deal with the publication of a chapter in the Murphy report into child sex abuse in the Catholic Archdiocese of Dublin on 15 December.

The chapter deals with former priest Tony Walsh who was sentenced to 16 years in prison yesterday for the abuse of three boys.

Last year Mr Justice Paul Gilligan ruled chapter 19, which deals with Walsh and 21 other references to him, should not be published until all the pending court cases had been completed.

There are no more legal proceedings pending against Walsh following yesterday's conviction.

However, the judge said that the court was only dealing today with procedural matters and it was always intended that the court would deal with chapter 19 on 15 December.

He said the court was acutely aware of the position of victims.
