Papal travel: 3 trips inside Italy in 2008

Vatican Radio has reported plans for three papal trips inside Italy during the coming year 2008.

Pope Benedict XVI will travel to Savona and Genoa on May 17-18, for a meeting with youth and a visit to the shrine of the Madonna della Guardia, Vatican Radio reports.

On June 14-15 the Pontiff will visit Brindisi and Santa Maria di Leuca (Apulia). And on September 7, the Pope will travel to Cagliari, in Sardinia, for a visit to the Marian shrine there.

The Holy Father also has plans for 3 trips outside Italy in 2008: to the US in April, with stops in New York and Washington; to Australia in July for World Youth Day; and to France, at an unspecified date, for the 150th anniversary of the Virgin Mary's appearances at Lourdes.
