At an audience on Saturday at the Vatican, Leo XIV quoted these words of the canonized Mother Teresa (1910-1997) in front of young politicians.
The voice of the religious and Nobel Peace Prize winner is still prophetic today, according to the Pope.
“No politics can put themselves at the service of the peoples if it excludes those who want to come to the world from life if it does not help those who are in material and spiritual distress.”
There can be no peace without ending the war that humanity is waging against itself, the Catholic head of the church said. "Only those who care for the little ones can really do great things."
The young people urged Leo XIV to "honor peace when he is there, and to realize it when it is missing."
