St Mary’s Church of Ireland in Killarney – also known as the Church of the Sloes – is to receive €4,688 for necessary works.
The funding is to be provided under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme and the Historic Structures Fund and 26 projects across Kerry will benefit.

9 Port Road, Killarney: €8,250 for roof works
3 Parnell Place in Kenmare: €2,480 for windows and doors
Duagh Presbytery: €2,700 for roof works
Curran’s Bar, Dingle: €4,668
Former bank premises, Shelbourne Street, Kenmare: €28,250 for roof works
Coastguard House, Kells Bay: €8,250 for roof works
Callinafercy House, Milltown: €8,250 for roof works
Ballyheigue Castle: €20,000 for refurbishments
Hussey’s Bar, Main Street, Castleisland: €77,550 for restoration work
Announcing details of the grants, which total €103,379.50 in Kerry, Education Minister and Kerry TD, Norma Foley, said the schemes fund a variety of repairs and renovation works to prevent deterioration, protect character and encourage the re-use of protected structures.
The schemes also provide important support for the employment of traditional craftspeople and conservation professionals.
“Our built heritage is a tangible expression of our history and culture and a distinctive and attractive element of our towns, villages and countryside,” she said.
