"Violence in Tijuana does not stop, rather it increases every day and
seems it afflicts insecurity throughout the country. The authorities in Baja California Nord have to face this sad reality", said the Archbishop of Tijuana, His Exc. Mgr. Francisco Moreno Barron, who met the press on March 13 for the presentation of the march in favor of life and migrants, which will take place next Sunday, March 19.
So far this year there have been more than 200 murders in Tijuana, linked to organized crime or drug trafficking. During last weekend, nine people were killed in different parts of the city. In one case the killers broke into a house in the northern area and killed three women and two men cold-bloodedly.
"The same thing that happens in the city, also happens in the states of Guerrero and Michoacan, I think we have a responsibility to address this sad reality", reiterated Mgr. Moreno, stressing that it is urgent that the authorities in Baja California establish an effective program to promote community safety.
This means to ask citizens how to cooperate in a serious and responsible plan in order to start reducing violence.
"Although civil authorities do not have all the answers and all resources or a magic wand to resolve the situation, it is a duty of all citizens. I think we are all called to work for peace", concluded the Bishop.
