Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has said that the time for his meeting with the pope has not yet come.
"It would become quite possible at some moment. But it is early to set any dates," the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church told the Polish media ahead of his August 16-19 visit to Poland at the invitation of the Polish Orthodox Church metropolitan.
The late Pope John Paul II hailed from Poland.
"A revolutionary reformatting of the entire planet's spiritual life is happening today," Patriarch Kirill said.
"The Orthodox and Catholic Churches are allies and largely think the same way as they advocate Christian values in Europe's life and promote Christian culture in Europe and all over the world," he said.
