A lay-led Catholic radio station is to be launched in six weeks' time as part of the ongoing legacy of Pope Benedict XVI's visit to Britain two years ago.
Organisers say they believe that the station, Heart Gives Unto Heart, is the first Catholic radio station in Britain.
Its launch date, 7 October, is timed to coincide with the opening of the Year of Faith by the Vatican four days later.
It will be available online at www.hguh.co.uk
The station's team of more than 50 volunteers are co-ordinated by poet and songwriter Gerry Coates and Southwark Auxiliary Bishop Paul Hendricks.
The station will broadcast mainly pre-recorded material for several hours daily - initially on weekday evenings and longer at weekends.
