Egypt’s Coptic Patriarch Pope Shenouda III has warned Christian candidates in upcoming parliamentary elections not to use churches for their electoral campaigns.
The 88 year-old head of the Coptic church also warned candidates not to mix politics with religion.
There are around 19 Copts running for seats in parliamentary elections set for 28 November.
The Church estimates that there are 12 million Christians, mostly Coptic, out of a total population of 85 million.
