Pope Benedict XVI appointed Monsignor José de la Trinidad Valera Angulo as the new bishop of Guanare, Venezuela, said Wednesday the press office of the Holy See.
Valera Angulo, who was bishop of La Guaira, replaced Monsignor José Sótero Valero Ruz, whose resignation was accepted by the Pope because he reached the age limit of 75, according to the Code of Canon Law, AP reported.
Monsignor Valera Angulo was born in San Lázaro, diocese of Trujillo (southwestern Venezuela), on September 3, 1947. He earned a degree in Philosophy at Andrés Bello Catholic University, in Caracas, and a degree in Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University, in Rome.
