Vatican still unsure about time of Pontiff meeting with Alexy II

The Vatican is unable to say when Pope of Rome Benedict XVI may meet with Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Alexy II, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity Cardinal Walter Kasper told the Interfax-Religion on Thursday.

The meeting would be held at an appropriate time, Cardinal Kasper said.

This isn't the main question of the inter-church relations, he said, adding that they would be happy to hold the meeting as the proof of Christian values to the secular society.

The cardinal said that the inter-church dialog had made great progress and stressed the need for doing away with mutual misunderstandings and learning more about each other.

He said the final goal of that dialog was church unity.

The Roman primacy and some other dogmas are the main obstacles in the mutual rapprochement of the Churches, the cardinal said.

He also mentioned misunderstandings, bias and mutual disregard.
