Cardinal Bertone to visit Ukraine

Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Vatican Secretary of State, will visit Ukraine later this month, stopping in Lviv and Kiev.

During his trip, from May 23 to 26, Cardinal Bertone will preside at two beatification ceremonies, for Sister Marta Vetskaya and Bohdan Khmelnytskyi.

The Vatican secretary may also meet with Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko.

While Pope Benedict XVI has evinced a reluctance to travel abroad often, Cardinal Bertone has made a number of foreign trips.

In 2007 he traveled to the US to address a convention of the Knights of Columbus, and later visited Argentina and Peru.

This year he has already traveled to Cuba, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
