Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone arrived in Azerbaijan on Thursday for three-day official visit. Azerbaijani Prime Minister Arthur Rasizadeh, Deputy Foreign Minister Vagif Sadikhov, Vatican representative in Azerbaijan – Nuncio Claudio Gugerotti, head of Baku Catholic Church Jan Chapla have welcomed the Vatican Secretary of State at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
Tarcisio Bertone is planning to meet with Prime Minister Arthur Rasizadeh, Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov and other officials.
He will attend the opening ceremony of Virgin Mary Catholic Church and meet with the Chairman of Caucasian Muslims Clergy Sheykhulislam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev expected to receive Cardinal Bertone.
