My dear friends in Christ, it is not often, as you all well know, but I have come across a website which is that of a religious order whose website - which is quite informative - can be accessed through clicking on this link
Ordo Maria Apostolorum
Whilst browsing the site, my eye was drawn to the following item which I personally believe is a most beautiful piece.
It is a cross made of nails, and I think it explains itself with the following words:
THE CROSS OF NAILS
This Cross, exclusively made for OMA, is hand fashioned from nails and reminds us of the sufferings which Our Lord Jesus Christ endured for our sakes.
Each Cross will be individually blessed by the Orders’ Healing Priest bearing in mind your own personal ailment and praying for your speedy recovery.
The Cross is the greatest of all Christian symbols for it expresses the true meaning of Christianity.
Jesus says to us, in the Gospel: “No greater love hath any man that to lay down his life for his friends.”
In the Sacrifice of the Cross Our Saviour gave his body and poured out His blood for us; yet even in His last agony implored: “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do”.
He, Himself, taught us precisely how to live as Christians – Love must always be our guide.
We hope you will use this cross as a means by which you may meditate, not only on the death of Christ but on His life and teachings.
The Cross is available in two sizes, the large one 6.5 cm x 5.75 cm and retails at €20 and the small Cross measures 4 cm x 3.8 cm and retails at €15.
Postage and packaging costs are €5 regardless of the number of Crosses you order.
I suggest that you visit their site and if you are going to purchase a Cross quote this reference CW/CN and please do let me know what you think of this most beautiful and simple yet basic reminder of that gift that Christ gave us on the Cross - life over death.
