Brady meets Orange leaders

The Catholic Primate of All Ireland has met Protestant Orange Order leaders involved in the long-running Drumcree marching dispute in the North.

Cardinal Sean Brady discussed the long-running parades dispute with senior Orangemen from Portadown at a meeting in Armagh on Thursday night.

The meeting was part of a series of engagements between Orangemen from Portadown and other religious and political leaders.

District Master Darryl Hewitt said: "Cardinal Brady has gone on record as saying that people should make a bigger effort to understand the Orange tradition. He has also condemned attacks on our Orange Halls. "We wanted to meet the Cardinal and thank him for his words."
