Leaflets branding the Pope anti-Jew and anti-Protestant have been distributed in Co Armagh.The material also bears the loyalist refrain of `No Pope Here` and `No Surrender`.
The smears refer to the Pope`s past in the Hitler Youth, like all young Germans, and last year`s assertion that Christian denominations outside Roman Catholicism were not true churches in the full sense of the word.
The flyers were placed in a phone box in Market Street, Lurgan, and were highlighted by SDLP MLA Dolores Kelly.
She has complained to the police.
"Lurgan is divided enough without this sort of hate-mongering being propagated around the town, going out to young people and others inciting hatred for the leader of a church," she said.
