Holy Synod of Catholic Chaldean Syrian Church Begins

The seven-day Holy Synod of Apostolic Catholic Chaldean Syrian Church of the East begins today, according to Mr K A John, General Convener of the Organising Committee and Chairman of the Board of Central Trustees of the Church.

Addressing a press conference, he said his Holiness Maran Mar Dinkha IV, Catholicos Patriarch of the Church of the East, and the Bishops from different parts of the world would participate in the Synod.

The Holy Synod, the first of its kind in the country, would declare the names of two Bishops (Episcopa) to be consecrated.

Vicar General Joju Anto and Rev Fr Shaju Paulose are the two persons being considered for the post of Bishops.

A pandal had been constructed with a seating capacity of 6,000 people to witness the Consecration ceremony and the public meeting relating to the Holy Synod.

A youth rally would be organised in connection with the Synod on January 18.

The Synod would discuss the matters like how to make relations better with other churches and religious sects, Mr John said.
