Report: Are the schismatic Poor Clares selling their monastery treasures?

In the archdiocese of Burgos, fears are apparently spreading that the renegade Poor Clares of Belorado could soon start selling art treasures from their monasteries.

As the Spanish portal "Religion Digital" reported on Tuesday, citing sources from the archdiocese, the community is being represented by a law firm that specialises in the sale of religious art and liturgical material.

This has caused great concern in church circles.

The monastery in Belorado alone contains several valuable baroque altarpieces from the 17th century.

In addition, the inventory of liturgical equipment is unmanageable.

The community is dependent on sales proceeds due to legal disputes arising from property transactions.
