Built in 1852, the Church of the Immaculate Conception is ‘one of the most impressive Catholic churches in the country’, according to a post on the fundraisers GoFundMe page.

“The church has been maintained magnificently throughout the years and is a gift from previous generations to us the people of Castlecomer Parish, it continues.

“Each generation carries a responsibility for its care and now it is our turn to come together to ensure remedial works are carried out to the magnificent decorative ceiling above our altar. Be with us as we aim to raise the €25,000 needed to repair the ceiling.”
