A special initiative to mark the Year of Faith got underway in Roscommon and Sligo last week.
Over recent weeks Bishop Christopher Jones has circulated a brochure
entitled ‘Believing in Order to Understand; Understanding, the better to
Believe’ to all 38 parishes in the Elphin diocese.
Through the brochure
the bishop queries what it means to be a person of faith and whether
exercising one’s faith and being reasonable inevitably lead to
conflict.
The brochure goes on to present details of four workshops/seminars
related to the topic of faith that are being made available over eight
Saturdays in Roscommon and Sligo.
The first of these focuses on Faith and Reason and was presented by
Sligo’s Fr Michael Drumm, Chairperson of the Catholic Schools
Partnership.
The other speakers in the series are Fr Noel Rooney PP, St
Joseph’s Sligo (speaking in April); Sr Moya Hegarty OSU (September) and
Fr Michael Duignan, St Angela’s College, Sligo (October).
