Some 90 invited guests joined Archbishop Dermot Clifford in St
Patrick’s College, Thurles, Co. Tipperary for the launch of an updated
safeguarding booklet which outlines the policies and procedures to be
employed in the Archdiocese of Cashel & Emly when working with young
children and vulnerable adults.
Sr Carmel Bourke, trainer and co-ordinator of the programme welcomed
everyone and introduced the speakers Breda Mc Cormack, Chairperson of
the Committee for Safeguarding Children, who outlined the role and work
of the committee since it was set up in the archdiocese last year and
guest speaker Deirdre Lanigan, who works in youth ministry.
Archbishop Clifford praised the members of the Child Safeguarding
Committee for their dedicated work in producing the booklet and diocesan
designated officer for child safeguarding, Bill Meagher for his
guidance and advice.
