The Bishop had called for the move to facilitate hurling and gaelic football fans from Leeside who will be travelling to Dublin.
Now Cork footballers will take on Kildare in the All Ireland senior quarter-final on Sunday, with the hurlers scheduled to meet Kilkenny on the same day in a semi-final clash.
Fans had said they would like to attend both events, and having both matches on the same day would lead to a considerable reduction in expense and hassle.
Croke Park made the decision after the draw for the All-Ireland football quarter finals last night.
Lifelong GAA supporter and sporting enthusiast Bishop Buckley earlier said he supported the call for a "double-header" at Croke Park.
"I have communicated with Croke Park and I have told them the feeling here in Cork. There is a strong feeling here after last year. They (the supporters) feel that they deserve it this year and I think there should be some appreciation of that on the part of Croke Park."
Last year, the Cork GAA public was were hit hard in the pocket when the footballers played Sligo in the All-Ireland quarter-final on Saturday, August 4, at Croke Park, while the hurlers were in action against Waterford in the All-Ireland quarter-final replay the following day at the same venue.
