Pope designates Holy Thursday collection for Catholics in Gaza Strip

Pope Benedict XVI has decided the collection taken up at his Holy Thursday evening Mass will be used to help support the Catholic community in the Gaza Strip.

Each year the pope chooses where to send the collection taken up during the Mass of the Lord's Supper at the Basilica of St. John Lateran, the cathedral of the Diocese of Rome.

Pope Benedict's decision to use the collection from the Mass April 9 to support Catholics in Gaza was announced by the Vatican March 30.

Each year the pope also asks a different person to write the meditations read during his Good Friday celebration of the Way of the Cross in Rome's Colosseum.

The meditations for the April 10 service were written by Archbishop Thomas Menamparampil of Guwahati, India, AsiaNews reported.

The Vatican also confirmed the pope would celebrate the usual slate of Holy Week and Easter liturgies: Palm Sunday Mass in St. Peter's Square April 5; on Holy Thursday, April 9, the morning chrism Mass in St. Peter's Basilica, followed by the evening Mass at St. John Lateran; on Good Friday, April 10, the afternoon liturgy of the Lord's Passion in St. Peter's Basilica, followed by the nighttime Way of the Cross; the Easter Vigil April 11 in St. Peter's Basilica; and Easter morning Mass April 12 in St. Peter's Square.

Telling it like it is said...

The BEGGING BOWL never stops at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Bray.

It is not 3 weeks since all Parishioners got a huge packet of info Glossy folder, letter, envelope to return BANK forms duly filled out to start your Bankers Order and increase your donations (if you were already giving). This is both to fund the grand Church renovations, decoration and the smaller necessary work required at the Church and which the Parish Priest decided he wanted.

Now 3 weeks later the BEGGING LETTERS have come in the doors AGAIN this time looking for EASTER DUES for Parish Priest good old Larry White and his clergy and it comes complete with an Easter Card. How kind of him to spend our contributions on those too!!!

It is not that long since the BEGGING LETTERS went out for the Christmas dues and then we are hit with the above two.

We are just about to start in to April and then Holy of Holies we will be hit with another BEGGING LETTER with the MIDSUMMER DUES ENVELOPES to fund Padre White's summer vacation and golfing trip.

Oh well there are fools who contribute to all of this and go without. They should get wise and get a bit of sense he already had a 5 month holiday last autumn supposedly recovering from the stress of his hard work in the Parish. NOT!!!!!!!!!!!
