MEXICO - The Bishops of Mexico: "pain and rejection for the construction of this wall"

"We express our sorrow and rejection with regards to the construction of this wall, and respectfully invite all to reflect on the ways through which we can ensure security, development, work and other necessary and fair measures, without causing further damage to those who are already suffering, the poorest and most vulnerable", said the statement of the Mexican Episcopal Conference (CEM).

"We will continue to support our brothers who come from Central and South America, who cross our country to head towards the United States" is written in the statement of the Mexican Episcopate, which ends by calling on the country's authorities to "continue in the search for agreements" with the neighboring country, "in order to safeguard the dignity and respect" of migrants, who seek only the best opportunities in life.

The statement was signed by His Exc. Mgr. Guillermo Ortiz Mondragón, Bishop of Cuautitlan, as Chairman of the Episcopal Commission for Human Mobility of CEM.

In the text it is emphasized that the commitment of the Mexican Bishops is in full harmony with the Episcopal Commission for Migration of the United States.
