A Co. Wexford based priest is to hold a series of talks and films
arguing that it will take more than economics and politics to build a
sustainable future for Ireland.
Fr Paddy Banville, curate in New Ross, will host the events in St
Leonard's Church running weekly
up to the end of March.
''Could anyone really believe that the Church, the economy, all the
different strata of human life are running parallel, never meeting?
''The current financial crisis is at root both spiritual and moral,'' Fr Banville said.
Fr Banville says we need to realise ''we're pulling the carpet from
under our feet'' so we can inject a renewed sense of urgency to the
Catholic Church.
''The Church needs to fight big time and get our voice heard. We have a choice - are we going to choose lightness or darkness
because politicians are only a reflection of the culture we have all
developed. We need to look in the mirror or we'll make the same mistakes over and over.''
