Irish Clerical Rumblings...

Well, in clerical circles here in Ireland, things have been happening but they have not been as covered as would sem to be the norm elsewhere, so it falls to us here in CW to do it...and without reservation let us begin...

Last year, we had the matter of a priest found to have been availing of the www.gaydar.ie website to help him through the lonely nights which led to him being outed by gutter papers and then sent to Coventry by his bishop, Wishy Washy Willie Walsh down there in Killaloe...and has returned to the outskirts of Galway city where he is destined to remain....

We have to now return to aforementioned diocese (again) and find that there are 2 clergy down there making use of this dating system, and they aint too far from his episcopal palace i.e. both are in the town of Ennis.

It will be interesting to see if the bishop can afford to dispense with these clergy as there seems to be such a shortage down there...well Willie is the Christian compassion or the Catholic attitude going to win this one out?

Answers on a postcard to: Bishop Walsh c/o Arbour Hill Prison...

They seek him here, they seek him there...and (Fr) Liam Lawton seems to be one of those people right now who seems to be sought but not found...

With a plethora of concerts and gigs being cancelled, questions are being asked as to what is happening...

Simply, Fr Lawton is as good as broke now due to some 'financial issues' having visited themselves upon him which has resulted in certain elements of management having received their P45's...and now the books must be examined and perhaps some explanation found as to how things have managed to reach this serious level.

Just as well Fr Lawton has a day job to fall back on...a little retraining in the rubrics may be required and no doubt Bishop Jimmy down there may give him a P60 in the not so distant future...a lovely Christmas gift no doubt...

...and to finish (for now), a rather interesting piece of info in relation to Bishop Colm O Reilly of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise who seems reluctant to discipline a priest for having caused the split of a man and his fiancee...

It seems that the priest himself had his own eyes on the lady and went out of his way to ensure the break up of the young couple and then attempted to brainwash her via the Landmark group which is quetionable in its operations to say the least.

The bishop wa advised of this, but with his usual arrogance decided to dismiss the matter and wrote to certain persons telling them they were 'dangerous people' and thus far has the matter remained unresolved.

The poor girl at the centre of all this is receiving the necessary help (no thanks to cleric or bishop let it be noted) but the priest is still trying to manipulate her, and again the bishop refuses to act.

It seems that the old adage of ignore and it will diappear is held up in esteem by some who seemed to have had their heads in the sand during the CSA allegations over the last decade or so in this country.
