The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland has
embraced mass communication in the 21st century by joining Twitter.
The Right Reverend Lorna Hood once claimed she was "the loneliest
person on the internet" with only one Facebook friend but she's hoping
for a few more followers than that on Twitter.
Despite some reservations, Mrs Hood has said she is looking forward
to engaging with other Twitter users and has set herself the modest goal
of attracting 500 followers by Christmas.
She got the ball rolling with her first tweet on Tuesday in which she joked that she "had to give in to Comms team".
"Looking for the Idiots' Guide," she said.
After just a day on the social media network, she is well on the way
to her goal of 500 followers, with just under 200 following her so far.
Mrs Hood said she joined the website in a bid to reach out to
churchgoers across the globe and to further involve the Kirk with the
changes taking place in the digital age.
She said: "Jesus has many followers. I'd be happy with four or five
hundred followers by Christmas. I'm looking forward to tweeting and
talking with everyone who uses Twitter."
