Syrian rebels have destroyed an Armenian church in the country's second city of Aleppo.
Rebels set St Gevorg church in Aleppo's Armenian district on fire
last week.
A spokesman for the local Armenian prelacy said that the
building had been "reduced to ashes".
The attack came on the same day
that a blast near an Armenian district in the capital city of Damascus
reportedly killed 10 people and wounded 50.
Nearly 50 Syrian Armenians have reportedly been killed since the
start of the conflict in Syria in March 2011.
Many of the country's
80,000 Syrian Armenians have taken refuge in Armenia since fighting
between government and opposition forces reached Aleppo in July.
