Mass in some far west Catholic parishes in the
Wilcannia-Forbes diocese in NSW may only be celebrated every second
Sunday, because of the shortage of priests, reports the ABC.
The diocese is operating without a Bishop, and minus two priests.
A committee investigating the future of the diocese will visit Broken
Hill later this month to discuss changing the parish boundaries, but
the administrator, Bishop Kevin Manning, says there has been strong
support for keeping the current parishes.
"If they do retain the parishes as they are, it means that there's going to be less services in the parishes.
"Instead of having people going to mass every Sunday, some of those parishes may only get mass every second Sunday," he said.
Bishop Manning said the committee is keen to hear from Catholics in Broken Hill.
