Italian university receives Pope's notes from Vatican II

Pope Benedict XVI has donated his personal notes and files from the Second Vatican Council to the University of Bologna, Italy.

In a 2001 interview with the newspaper Corriere della Sera, then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger announced that upon his retirement, he would give all his documents related to his work as an adviser at the Council to the Institute for Vatican II Studies at the University of Bologna.

The Pope has now made the decision to transfer custody of the files immediately.
