The Holy Father appointed Rev. Dominique Banlène Guigbile, parish priest and Episcopal Vicar for pastoral coordination, as Bishop of Dapaong.
Rev. Dominique Banlène Guigbile was born on December 30, 1962 in Kpandéntangue-B (Tône), in the Diocese of Dapaong. After his primary and secondary studies, Dominique attended the Saint Gall Major Seminary in Ouidah, Benin, for his philosophical and theological studies. He became a priest for the Diocese of Dapaong on 30 December 1992.
Since then he has served the following roles: 1993-1996: Assistant priest of Santa Monica in Dapaong; 1993-1996: Director of the Foyer Séminaire Payenn Saint Clement in Dapaong; 1996-2002: Studies in Strasbourg, France; 2002-2009: Parish priest of Santa Monica parish in Dapaong, and Secretary General of the Fraternité nationale des prêtres diocésains; since 2003: Episcopal Vicar for pastoral coordination; since 2009: parish priest of St. Peter's parish of Korbongou.
In addition, he is a member of the Council of Priests, the College of Consultors, the Council for Economic Affairs, as well as Visiting Professor at the Seminary of Philosophy and Theology of Togo, and of the state University of Kara.
The Diocese of Dapaong, erected in 1990, a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Lomé, has an area of 8,470 square kilometers and a population of 828,224 inhabitants, of whom 66,094 are Catholic. There are 16 parishes, 66 priests (39 diocesan and 27 religious), 29 religious brothers, 68 nuns and 35 seminarians.
