Paraguay: bishops say drug traffic corrupts state institutions

http://www.fides.org/app/webroot/files/appendeds/28/primopiano_2838.jpgThe Catholic bishops of Paraguay have issued a call for action against the influence of drug trafficking on the nation’s political system.

At the conclusion of their annual meeting, the bishops issued a statement that voiced their concern “over the apparent and active presence of drug trafficking in society and in the political sphere.” 

They said that the problem is a danger to the moral health of Paraguay, compromising the integrity of the nation’s institutions, and it is “everyone’s responsibility” to address it.
