Archbishop Oscar Cruz, an official with the Philippines' National
Appellate Matrimonial Tribunal, adheres to the Catholic Church's
hard-line stance against gay marriage, but with a surprising, M. Night
Shyamalan-like twist.
"May a lesbian marry a gay man?" he asked,
nonrhetorically, at a church forum on Tuesday.
"My answer is 'yes,'
because in that instance the capacity to consummate the union is there.
The anatomy is there. ... I ask this question to myself and I have
thought about it for a long time and the answer is 'yes.'"
We're not
sure what's weirder: The fact that he brought this up in public or the
fact that he has spent such a long time thinking about it.
